Best Answer: Hello there, The parts are not expensive. I have bought tremolo bridges and the whammy bar for around $15. The installation is the thing. If you cannot do it, you need to have a guitar tech do it. To install a tremolo bridge you need to cut a hole in the front of your body (using a router) for the bridge to sit in. You need to cut the back channel for the springs.
After you have the holes routed. Installation is a breeze. You use screws to put in the bridge.
On the back you screw in the claw and attach the springs to the claw and the bridge. There are tremolo bridges that do not require the springs and thus, no need for the back to be routed. A Kahler Spyder and the Bigbsy come to mind. Those are pricey. Unless you have a pretty nice guitar, you would not spend the money for those.
