In Windows 7 there is a check box in Window Color and Appearance called 'Enable Transparency'. Unchecking the box turns off Transparency. Where is this setting stored? I have tried finding a change in the Registry using Registry Watch but it says No changes found. I would really like to find where this is stored so any assistance would be appreciated as I have tried searching the web and while I can find how to turn off Aero this is not what I want - I just want to turn off Transparency.

Hi, Have you installed any third party themes on your computer? You are not able to see the Window color and appearance options because you have not selected Aero theme. If you use any other theme, then you cannot see this window. Each Aero theme comes with different window colors. Follow these steps: 1. Click on start and then click on control panel.

Click on personalization. Select an Aero theme and then click on Window color. Now you can see the different color options and the color intensity slider in the window color and appearance window.
