Ezdrummer Drag And Drop Pro Tools
. I can't drag and drop grooves into my project, help! I can’t drag and drop grooves into my project, help! Solution: EZdrummer enables you to drag and drop grooves directly to your sequencer’s timeline. This feature depends however on the host application’s capability to import objects, such as MIDI files, from a source program by simply dragging them to the destination track.
Supported host applications as shortlisted on the EZdrummer all allow for this level of integration, although the exact details may vary from one host application to the other. Problems with drag and drop of the MIDI from your Toontrack product Grooves browser to a track are typically permission related, on Windows workstations secured by default UAC rules.
EZ Drummer drag and drop not working. When I highlight something in EZ Drummer and try to drag it onto my drum track nothing happens. Pro Tools Forum.
On a PC the best solution is to launch your host application as an administrator, instead of double clicking the application icon from the desktop or start menu. Right click it and choose “Run as administrator”, in this instance, as shown below: Note that you will be required to launch your host application in this manner on every session. Disclaimer: permanent solutions such as turning off UAC altogether will leave your computer unprotected and we therefore cannot recommend you do so.
For solutions that do not require the above workaround we recommend that you contact the maker of your host application for advise.
Glad to see comments on EZ Drummer's Drag & Drop method in Pro Tools! I also need a little help. I have recently purchased a new Apple iMac and am running Pro Tools 7.3, with Toontrack's EZ Drummer as my beats! I have chosen Track, New Track, Stereo, Instrument Track and have also chosen the Grid option when my track opens up in Pro Tools. Since i am not using a midi keyboard, i only wish to use the Drag & Drop method with EZ Drummer! When i then chose a midi loop that i want and drag it into my track, this midi loop appears as a single column.
Is this the way a midi loop from EZ Drummer should appear? If so, how do i extend this midi loop, so it will give me continious playback for a view bars? Do i first select this loop and then go to edit, duplicate, or edit and then repeat? How do users of EZ Drummer's Drag & Drop method in Pro Tools, use this option?
Really would appreciate some help, as this is my first venture into the world of software and also wondered is there any tutorials out there, showing how to use EZ Drummer's Drag & Drop method in Pro Tools? Regards, Sting. Glad to see comments on EZ Drummer's Drag & Drop method in Pro Tools! I also need a little help. Regards, Sting Highlight the loop and hit Alt-r (not sure if Mac uses the Option key instead) and tell it how many times to repeat. Some of the fills in EZ Drummer are a bit strange, ie they will place a whole bar into the grid, but the fill will only be a half or quarter of the bar. The first thing I do is cut the fill out of the bar, by viewing the track in 'regions' and changing the grid to 1/4 note, then it's easy to select the part of the bar that needs to be split to isolate the fill, I use 'Ctrl-E' to split the bar at the highlighted section and then delete the unwanted silence.
I then go to the end of the measure I want to place the fill in, I keep the view in 'regions' and the grid size to 1/4 note, then I use the 'Ctrl-E' command to cut the amount out of the measure that is needed to put the fill in, then I drag the fill into the space I just created. I don't consolidate the fill and the measure. I use a 1/4 note grid because it's easy to introduce errors if you have the grid too fine, a 1/64 missing size slice soon adds up when you've duplicated a bar 10 times. When you view the entire track as regions it's easy to see where you have fills. Because they are the small slices.
I tend to do the basic arrangement with one or two fills then go back after and replace them with a varied bunch of different fills when I have the song roughed out. When I have the arrangement finished I go through the whole track and move the odd bass drum to match the bass lines, and insert random opened hi-hats and cymbals to accent chord changes or vocal gaps, just to add a random element which stops it sounding like a bunch of pre-programmed loops. One hint is that if you go to the View-Region-Name menu and make sure it is ticked you will see the names of the patterns you've used overlaid onto the block or region views. Which is handy when you've forgotten where you got that original pattern from! I love EZDrummer.

Just wish to thank Shea and Albee1952 for answering my question about how to use EZ Drummer's Drag&Drop method in Pro Tools! You guys have been much more helpful than Toontrack and Digidesign Support, who shifted me from pillar to post regarding my question! Also wish to thank Hnbike and Steevp for question and answer about fills and breaks in EZ Drummer! To you guys out there who are using EZ Drummer and Pro Tools with an Apple iMac. I purchased a Lacie d2 Quadra 500GB external firewire hard drive, to save my Pro Tools sessions, rather than use the internal hard drive on my new iMac. On paper, this Lacie external hard drive, is compadible with all Macs!
However, for some reason, it simply won't work when EZ Drummer is loaded into Pro Tools 7.3, as i have suffered loss of volume, glitches and then a full system crash! However, when i removed the Lacie external hard drive from my iMac, EZ Drummer and Pro Tools worked just fine.
I have contacted Lacie support about this issue and am waiting on them coming back to me. I may have to update the Lacie hard drive, to work with EZ Drummer, but it is the latest model!
Any thoughts out there?
